Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the Universe, who is the very definition of majesty. Staggering majesty. From the depths of the ocean, to the highest mountain peaks, Your love and Your mercy reign. (Psalm 95:3-5) I have often missed the purpose, and meaning, of that earthly description. Maybe I have always missed it until now? The physical distance between the ocean floor and the mountain peak? It can be measured, quantified in miles and feet, by physical number. And that's usually where I stop contemplating. I don't slow down enough to...swim in that ocean, or soak in the view from that mountain peak. What do I see as I dive in now? I see my failures, my carnality, my crimes against Your holiness (aka, sins). I see this dirt all over me. While I swim in the dark depths, the dirt sticks to me. But then, I am drawn, You draw me!, up and up, into the Light, and my dirt...dissolves. Dissolved...by Mercy. My heart, my self, becomes saturated, dyed completely, by Love. The ascent continues. Up and up, now out of the water, up and up. Up, up, up. All the way to the tip of the mountain. Sin gone, replaced... by Love. The spiritual reality? There is NO bottom to Your Love. There is NO top to Your Love. The ocean?, has a floor. The mountain?, has a peak. Not so with Your Love. All of my sin, indeed, all of me, is *entirely* immersed in Your... *borderless*...vat...of Love. Every fiber of my being, is soaked, in the eternal dye, of Love, forever. First, my being was cleansed, by Mercy. Then, I was, thoroughly dyed, in Love. Jesus! Savior! Redeemer! Still my eyesight is so poor. Still I am so nearsighted that I cannot see past my arm's reach. This is all so inadequate to... describe... You. All Consuming Fire. All Consuming Love. You have dyed my heart in Love. No stain of mine can resist this dye. Mercy...permanently cleanses. Love...permanently saturates. Hallowed be Your name.
Blessed are You, Adonai our God, King of the Universe.
